Variable Energy Charge
Texas Pride Disposal has resisted raising prices as long as possible, but due to the critical nature of energy cost, we can no longer continue to absorb the increased cost.
Texas Pride has implemented a Variable Energy Charge (“VEC”). This energy charge is separate from the base rate and is shown as a separate entry on your invoice. The VEC converts the Gulf Coast No 2 Diesel Index rate for a particular month to a percentage that is applied to all invoice charges, excluding taxes. The VEC fluctuates up or down based upon changes in the reported prices of diesel fuel on the Gulf Coast No 2 Diesel Index.
The VEC addresses overall energy cost incurred by Texas Pride Disposal for providing waste management and environmental services to our customers and allows us to deliver value throughout each customer service relationship.
Texas Pride Disposal bases its VEC on an easily accessible national index: Weekly Gulf Coast No 2 Diesel Retail Prices (Dollars per Gallon) as reported the U.S. Department of Energy in its weekly diesel price index. This index, which is objective and widely recognized, is used in many commercial markets to track fluctuations in diesel fuel prices.
VEC is intended to measure the changes in the cost of energy that our operating companies and subcontractors use in our overall enterprise. Energy Surcharge are common in the waste and transportation industries, such as airlines, trucking and delivery service companies, and in utilities.
